Resumen

Organizations face the challenge of combining the best project management practices with new software development models. The management of this type of project should incorporate best practices, development philosophies, methodologies, models and tools. The use of best practices should increase the chances for success and the quality of the processes. However, their implementation tends to be complex, as it requires a high level of organizations maturity, a large number of resources and experienced work teams. The aim of this research is to contribute with a base structure of a methodology for the management of software development in small and medium enterprises. The development of the proposal considered the analysis of the main characteristics of agile methodologies, the study of successful and unsuccessful cases, a comparative study of their main advantages and disadvantages, and the analysis of a set of good practices and existing standards.
