Resumen
Recently, the employability of workers has been a topic of great interest in academic and professional lit-erature. This attention is largely due to changes taking place in the labor market. In response to numerous calls for the cross-cultural and cross-sectorial validation of measures used in Human Resources research, this paper de-scribes the Costa Rican validation in 795 service-sector workers of the multilevel employability scale developed by Van der Heijde & Van der Heijden (2006) with an industrial Dutch workers sample. After this validation we contrast the effect of the level of employability on the worker individual performance. This validation of employability meas-urement instrument has considered cultural differences (Denmark vs. Costa Rica), sectorial differences (industrial vs. services), and different educational background distribution of the sample (15.3% with BA degree and 2.2% with MA degree in the Dutch sample vs. 100% with BA degree and 85.4% with MA degree in the Costa Rican sample). Another contribution of our study is the consideration of non independence of observations through complex method of Mplus, since the samples in Human Resources research are affected by multilevel influences. The results show the internal consistency and the satisfactory factorial structure of the scales.
