Resumen
Exit power of a small scale Magnus wind turbine is obtained by a non-iterative numerical method, through the application of the actuating disc concept and the BEM (Blade Element Momentum) theory. The method is implemented on a commercial software, with the goal of obtaining explicit models for the power coefficient. This, allows to obtain the power coefficient of the wind turbine for any particular combination of the dimensionless numbers governing the turbine functioning. Results are processed by the software Eureqa, applying the symbolic regression technique, which allows to obtain explicit high correlation models for the small scale Magnus wind turbine power coefficient. Results for one, two, three and four cylindrical blade configurations, show this aerogenerator is able to reach power coefficients close to 0.10 with two rotating cylinders, where high aspect ratios of the cylinder, low tip-speed ratios and rotation ratios in the order of 3, are favorable.
