Abstract

The new protocol for crocodilian semen collection: Actually, the individuals of the order Cocodrylia are in danger of extinction or vulnerability situation. The study of the reproduction of the reptiles is incipient; it required the correct selection and classification of gametes in assisted reproduction programs. In this context, the research in assisted reproduction future projects is an opportunity for the reproduction of individuals with physical limitations to mating. In the years 20142015 a new protocol for semen collection was developed, during the first experiments, if the American crocodile and alligator were anatomically examined in vivo, in 2016 sperm material was collected from 4 animals checks for volume and pH. The protocol without pharmacological contention with careful physical restraint was satisfactory. The development of techniques for semen collection in vivo from wild species, through a non-risk analgesic procedure, facilitates and improves the processes of study and use in conservation programs.
