The aim of this investigation was to evaluate if former employees of multinational companies (MNC) of foreign direct investment launch new companies. In particular, an attempt was made to measure the process, characterize it, and to assess the performance of the companies created. The study was performed using simple random sampling, with a margin of error of 7% and a confidence level 95%, on a database of 11,120 former of MNCs in Costa Rica (n = 175). A control group was also used. The results show who are these entrepreneurs, the start-up process, characteristics and performance of new enterprises.
