Abstract
The Talamanca region, situated on the southern border between Costa Rica and Panama, safeguards millennia-old cultures and their natural resources. Both are immersed in La Amistad International Park (PILA), designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, owing to the potential of its natural and cultural heritage, tourism presents an opportunity for the Bribri indigenous Yorkin community. This article draws upon the results of ethnographic research to explore how a community-based tourism venture, led by indigenous women, implemented various livelihood diversification strategies to withstand the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The study concludes that, in this case, embracing multiple livelihood diversification focused on food sovereignty approaches can enhance resilience and sustainability for indigenous community-based tourism.
