Abstract

This article presents a prototype of a rehabilitation system for grip strength and wrist mobility. It is part of the REHAB-GYM project in the Mechatronics and Automation Research Laboratory, whose main objective is to address the challenges related to the accessibility of rehabilitation devices in Costa Rica and to improve user progress tracking through technology. The outcomes allow for the construction of a rehabilitation device that measures the grip strength applied by the user and the angles of wrist movements using potentiometers as sensors and a Teensy microcontroller. The system includes a playful and interactive graphical interface, which is an Android application that allows the user to set goals and transmit information via IoT.
