Abstract
An inexpensive and simple mock circulation loop was developed with the purpose of emulating the systemic circuit of the cardiovascular system, and which must be able to function under physiological conditions found on an average healthy adult person. This mock circulation loop contains a pulsatile left ventricle and a passive left atrium coupled with both, arterial and venous, resistances and compliances. A fluid, complying with blood's density and viscosity, was developed to emulate the human cardiovascular system behavior in the mock circulation loop. Also, a data acquisition system was developed and implemented to control the system's heart rate. This data acquisition system also contains a GUI used to control the parameters that have direct implications in the function of the mock circulation loop and is used to present the gathered values to the user.
