Abstract

The embedded implementation on a commercial platform of an acoustic classification system for the detection of gunshots and chainsaws in a tropical protected area is proposed here, with the idea of later integrating a surveillance wireless sensor network with similar nodes. The embedded system performs from signal preprocessing to feature extraction and final classification of signals, using HMM. Evaluation results using real data taken from a rain forest protected area, are given.
