Abstract

This work focuses on the study of the attitudes of high school math teachers toward talented students in mathematics in the cantons of Barva, Heredia and Santo Domingo de Heredia. The research was quantitative with descriptive scope. The Mann-Whitney U test for comparing and contrasting hypotheses was applied to the results obtained through an instrument for measuring attitudes toward gifted students in mathematics. The conclusion was that, in general, teachers in the aforementioned cantons do not have a definite position in their attitude to talented students in mathematics, however, they showed very favorable attitudes towards identifying and addressing these students.
