Project Details
Description
This project is planned to achieve three specific objectives: which correspond to needs
expressed by the target population:
1. Prepare the Strategic IT Plan for the National Horticultural Corporation (CHN) with a
general scope of its Processing Plant and Wholesale Plaza;
2. A roadmap that will allow to define which and how to propose future projects to bring
the “Plaza de Mayoreo” closer to the digitalization of its processes.
3. The third objective is a continuation of the extension project of the same name,
executed during 2022-2023 and called Digital Transformation 1 (TD1). The route to
follow was developed to advance towards the digital transformation of the
Processing Plant, so this objective is related to the implementation of improvements
recommended in this roadmap. At least, improvements will be implemented in the
process related to billing, this is a key process for automation opportunities.
With the results of the “Digital Transformation National Horticultural Corporation – TD1”
project, we have detected the need to focus both, past and present project proposals, from a
basic point of view. Meaning, working together in development and implementation of basic
processes that will gradually incorporate the concepts of digital transformation, to safeguard
their acceptance and use.
The PETI information technology strategic plan will provide the CHN a formal document that
establishes or envisions the direction and strategic objectives of the organization related to its
information technologies usage.
The route to follow for the transformation towards digitalization is being established in TD1
but, now integrating the “Plaza de Mayoreo”, it will allow the integration of an eventual single
plan (CHN says) and make decisions on the route to follow, using resources that can generate
parallel synergy with the application of the projects that are decided to be implemented for the
Plant. The benefit for the CHN is to give continuity to a process that has resulted in the
recognition of its level of maturity, the finding of improvement opportunities and the necessary
resources for its execution.
The implementation of the third objective is probably the one with the greatest impact, as
one of the most convenient projects for the CHN will be applied. The results of the TD1
project will be seen in action and how it will improve the chosen work process, especially for
the process they call billing, which involves everything from order request to collection.
This proposal with its three objectives, contributes to reduce the uncertainty and reluctance
that every change process entails, offering the clarity to plan and undertake the path of
transformation through guidelines to follow and projects prioritization. This is intended to be
carried out with joint and active work of the counterpart, extension workers, the effort of
student assistants, and the graduation project students.
