Costa Rica does not have a methodology, which includes the required variables and its level of complexity, to qualify the structural health condition of a bridge or passage structure. Currently, some institutions use different criteria to assign a rating for the evaluation of a structure. This causes, for example, one institution to rate a structure with a 70 (on a scale from 0 to 100) and another to rate it with a 4 (on a scale of 1 to 5), without any equivalence between scales. This results in wanting to prioritize using different criteria.
Therefore, this proposal intends to standardize an index of the structural health condition of a bridge, which allows prioritizing and allocating resources without generating confusion and in an objective manner. The calculation of this index involves the analysis of the complexity of variables and statistical and probabilistic criteria
