Project Details

Description

This project will work with community indigenous women in the Cabécar Territory of Talamanca;
specifically with 6 groups organized into associations: The Kabata Konana association that associates
women from 10 communities in the territory and with associations from the communities of Orochico,
Gavilán Canta, China kichá, Monte Sion, Sibujú; and a mixed cooperative that was recently formed
with representatives of at least 5 communities. These groups present different levels of organizational
maturity and are in different stages of the development of productive community projects. The approach
with this project considers four components: the organizational partner that will address the group
dynamics for the sustainability of the processes and the mechanisms for gender equality in the
participation of women in the community organizational structures that will impact their governance.
This component will also address the monitoring of the legal and administrative structure of the groups
and the establishment of the analysis and improvement of the various production processes, including
information and communication technologies. A second component would be that of indigenous
community tourism that will establish an analysis to identify tourist possibilities with plans for two
communities and training processes that allow addressing community rural tourism with an indigenous
cultural perspective. A third agro-industrial component that will allow adding value to the products of
community groups, based on the use of local agricultural production and traditional products. The fourth
component would be the Complementary Currency for Solidarity Exchange, which would imply putting
into practice the result of the research: Strategies for territorial socioeconomic development through
the use of complementary currencies based on Blockchain technology. Work will be done on a pilot
plan for the implementation of the currency that reduces dependence on the traditional currency. There
will be a synergy with the community groups with which previous processes have been carried out and
the components are proposed based on their needs. All will be approached from a participatory
methodology. There will also be a synergy with local institutions that will contribute at various levels of
the process such as: INA, INDER, MAG, ADITICA and Cambiatus
