Description
Since the beginning of 2020, the global pandemic caused by COVID-19 forced the work model in Costa Rica to be modified, paving the way for virtuality, which has reached the personnel selection and recruitment processes, so that digital media has prevailed over other options. The need to avoid physical contact, avoid reserving spaces and travel, increases the prominence of virtual interviews (Club del Emprendimiento, 2021).
More than 81% of hiring professionals consider that the selection of human talent will continue remotely or in a hybrid way (LinkedIn, 2020). However, this new modality results in a challenge for candidates and employers, since the virtual format can be more stressful, considering elements such as the internet connection or the environment in which the candidate is at the time of the interview, among other factors (Samela, 2021).
Consequently, a job interview can generate a certain degree of stress, which leads to the activation and deactivation of emotions, both positive and negative, or neutral. Some of them are related to professional self-efficacy and experience in the labor market (Raccanello, 2015).
Therefore, the purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between the emotional state and the levels of self-efficacy with the performance in the hiring processes experienced by the candidates when the virtual/face-to-face interview technique is used.
For this, the study is quantitative in nature with a deductive scope. The experimental type design will be used, through the equipment of the Neuromarketing Laboratory of the Business Administration School, specifically with Face Reading technology; universal facial expressions will be measured.
The research is part of the environment and business management lines of research of CIADEG, aligned with the institutional vision of ITCR through the strategic axis of culture, applying neuroscience in business in the Costa Rican business context
With the results of the study, professionals in human talent management will benefit from data and information with scientific rigor on the impact that emotions have on face-to-face and virtual interview processes. Likewise, since human talent management is part of the discipline taught at the School of Business Administration, the results obtained in this study will be transferred to teaching in order to provide greater practical knowledge to students and future professionals in the area
