Modelo de pronósticos de la criminalidad de Costa Rica

Project: Research Projects Internally fundedBasic and applied research

Project Details

Description

There is an area of research focused on developing models to anticipate the occurrence of crimes in order to support police strategies in the fight against crime. These types of models can help police agencies identify where and when to increase police deployments. In addition, they can be useful for evaluating the effectiveness of crime-fighting actions. The general objective of this project is to develop a crime forecasting model in Costa Rica based on machine learning. The model will predict the number of crimes that will occur in a given time and space. To create the models, police crime statistics published on the website of the Judicial Investigation Agency will be used. The project has a practical and applied purpose, but it is also expected to provide an academic contribution. Alternative models different from those commonly found in the literature will

be proposed, analyzing the performance of learning architectures in the field of language and the effectiveness of pre-trained deep learning models
