Description
This study will aim to analyze the perceptions of local social actors on tourism development
in the canton of Oreamuno in the province of Cartago. It has an execution period of twelve
months, its main objective is to determine the perception of tourism development of various
social actors and detect the viability of the basic elements for the construction of a cantonal
tourism development plan through a participatory methodology, with a territorial and
sustainable approach to promote more equitable socioeconomic processes. Oreamuno is
oneof the cantons that has multiple Final Graduation Projects to determine the tourism
potential before and during the pandemic. It has the potential to progressively become a
tourist destination with an attractive offer, as reflected in the conclusions of the mentioned
Final Graduation document. The strengthening activity responds to a research sequence
generated by the Social Sciences Department, through the career of Sustainable Tourism
Management, having the support of twenty-two institutions related to tourism as an economic
activity where, from 2019 to 2023, several economic sectors have converged with the
support of teachers, students, and graduates. Several activities have been generated that
have marked the presence the career of Sustainable Tourism Management in five of the
eight cantons of the province of Cartago. Therefore, it is in the interest of the Social Sciences
Department and of those who propose the activity to provide time and financial resources to
give sustainability of the ongoing process which will allow to increase the presence of the
Technological of Costa Rica in this region describing the perspectives of different local
actors and thus strengthening the efforts of various sectors of tourism and local economy.
