Description
This proposal aims to explore the perceptions of local social actors regarding tourism development in the canton of Alvarado, Cartago. Using a participatory and territorial methodology, the project seeks to collaboratively build the foundations for a sustainable local tourism development plan. Over twelve months, the initiative will include literature review, participatory workshops, interviews, stakeholder mapping, data analysis, and community validation. The activity continues a broader extension process initiated in 2022 across other cantons in Cartago and aligns with the strategic knowledge axes of the ITCR and the Sustainable Development Goals.

General Objective
To determine the perceptions of local stakeholders in the canton of Alvarado regarding tourism development, in order to participatively build the foundations for a cantonal tourism development plan, using a university outreach methodology that promotes sustainability, inclusion, and territorial coordination.
