Unethical behavior has undesirable consequences, such as the loss of trust in society or the negative impact on the corporate image, as well as the impossibility of fulfilling the mission, vision and corporate values. The university is called to train professionals with ethical leadership and this can be achieved through the teaching staff that transmits these values to the students, so that when they finish their studies, they reach the labor market or create their companies with ethical values. Creating a tool that can facilitate the knowledge of ethical values of the teaching staff during the recruitment phase would help universities to have more and more teachers with professional ethical leadership. Organizations are increasingly questioned on an ethical level by the actions of the people who belong to them. For this reason, universities must align their primary functions (teaching, research and extension) with the strategic objectives set as an institution. For this mission, teaching professionals, among others, must show a series of technical knowledge, but they must also possess a series of professional values that have to do with leadership and ethics. Through a quantitative approach, the recruitment and selection processes in Costa Rican universities will be identified, the tools used in the process will be categorized and an instrument will be designed to contribute to the selection of teaching personnel with professional ethical leadership. Appropriate statistical techniques will be used and other qualitative techniques, such as in-depth interviews, will be used when appropriate. The results obtained are expected to add value to the process of recruitment and selection of Costa Rican university teaching staff, so that ethical training in the classroom will have an impact on the future work performance of students.
