Project Details
Description
The Association for the Conservation and Development of Barrio Amón (ABA), located in
Carmen district, is a non-profit organization with the goal of preserving the area as a cultural
zone and ensuring the preservation of the beauty of its buildings and green spaces as a
sector of artistic, architectural, and cultural value. It is made up of local residents and
representatives of institutions, organizations, businesses, and cultural and artistic spaces
from the neighborhood and surrounding areas. This zone has been severely threatened by
urban degradation and other issues such as gentrification, insecurity, vandalism, pollution,
sex work, homelessness, and other factors of concern to ABA members. In 2023, ABA
signed a cooperation agreement with TEC to carry out joint projects and actions with shared
objectives. In this context, support was requested from the TEC, which resulted in an initial
diagnosis that identified limitations in ABA's management that prevent them from effectively
fulfilling their mission due to their current limited operational capacity. Therefore, this
strengthening activity proposes three main products: 1) a participatory diagnosis (baseline)
of their organization, work areas, and collective action; 2) the reconstruction of a model of
collective action; and 3) the design of a Roadmap for future joint projects that continue to
strengthen the Association and its impact.
