Description
The main purpose of this research proposal is to analyze the determinants of business competitiveness, as well as the impact that different configurations of resources and strategic capabilities have on the competitiveness of businesses from Costa Rica and Hungary.
This proposal is part of the roadmap of a line of research that seeks to understand the relationship between different resources and capabilities and business competitiveness. Researchers from the School of Business of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology and the University of Pécs (Hungary) actively participate in the line of research in which this proposal is framed. Specifically, the proposal seeks to answer pertinent research questions that fuel the academic debate in this knowledge field: what is the role of different resources and capabilities in the processes that shape the competitiveness of businesses in Costa Rica and Hungary? Furthermore, what strategic configurations of resources and capabilities generate more value for businesses and, consequently, translate into higher levels of competitiveness?
The proposed methodology is quantitative in nature using the database created by the Global Competitiveness Project (GCP: https://www.sme-gcp.org) for the year 2023. The GCP is an international research project led by researchers from the School of Business of the Technological Institute of Costa Rica and the University of Pécs (Hungary), and its primary objective is the analysis of business competitiveness. Based on a process led by the School of Business of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology and the University of Pécs, and where universities from Colombia, Mexico and Peru also participate, this database was created following homogeneous criteria to facilitate the comparability of results.
This research proposal will have implications for strategy makers and entrepreneurs, the design of support policies, as well as for academics developing their research in this knowledge field.
