Description

The objective of this research proposal is to measure the impact of clustering on the innovation and
competitiveness of the medical device cluster in Costa Rica, this as part of a general research roadmap that
seeks the relationship between knowledge management, capital intellectual, and innovation. The planned
methodology is quantitative, a census will be carried out on the population made up of 90 companies that are
members of the medical device cluster throughout the country. To contrast the hypotheses, Minitab Statistical
Software® 21.1.1 will be used, which is widely used in this type of cluster and the license is available for the
Tecnológico de Costa Rica. Furthermore, because it has a causal-explanatory model, it will be useful for both
the analysis of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Finally, the usefulness of the findings consists of
contributing to the formulation of possible public and business strategies that encourage the formation of
clusters and innovation in the country, thus strengthening its position in the global medical device market.
