Description
With the impact of the pandemic, the tourism sector was forced to rethink its business activities to face all the changes and situations that arose, which led to resorting to innovation processes that went beyond a focus on its processes but by addressing key areas of its business model.
To achieve this innovation, it is necessary to identify existing knowledge and new opportunities in external knowledge sources. This is achieved through knowledge management capabilities; however, the impact of these on innovation in the business model in the hotel sector is unknown.
It is for the above that this project intends to measure the impact of knowledge management, specifically in the dimensions of acquisition, integration, and use of knowledge, on the innovation of the business model in hotel companies in the North Huetar Region of Costa Rica, including in databases of local chambers of commerce and tourism and the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism
To measure innovation in the business model, a scale validated by Clauss (2017) and Bouncken (2016) will be used, while scales developed by Obeidat (2016) will be used to measure the dimensions of knowledge management, Huang and Li (2009) and Jantunen (2005). Model analysis and testing are performed using Smart-PLS software.
The results of the project will be published in journals indexed in Scopus, such as Technovation, and participants will also participate in conferences such as CLADEA to share the main discoveries of the research

Medir el impacto que ejercen las dimensiones de la gestión del conocimiento: adquisición, integración, y utilización del conocimiento en la innovación del modelo de negocio en empresas hoteleras de la Región Huetar Norte de Costa Rica

El eje de Innovación se asocia con el eje estratégico de Industria, que según el TEC es “el sector económico asociado a la producción de bienes o prestación de servicios dentro de una economía, incluyendo los cuatro sectores que componen la industria moderna: el sector primario conocido como aquel sector de la economía encargada de la extracción de recursos de la tierra (industrias agropecuarias, forestales, mineras, entre otras), el secundario es aquel sector de la economía que se encarga de procesar los recursos de las industrias primarias (refinerías, construcción, manufactura, entre otros), el terciario que cubre la oferta de servicios (ingeniería, turismo, medicina, entre otros) y el cuaternario que involucra la investigación en ciencia y tecnología para atender los tres anteriores” (AIR, sf).
La línea de investigación en la que se enmarca la propuesta por parte de la Escuela de Administración de Empresas es la de innovación, ya que lo que se busca es como los hoteles de la Región Huetar Norte a través del uso de la gestión del conocimiento (GC) han mejorado sus procesos de innovación del modelo de negocio.
