Description
Waiting lists to receive medical care within social security systems is not an exclusive problem for Costa Rica. Canada, England, Spain, New Zealand and Australia are pioneers in the generation of publications related to the topic and the situation facing each of these countries. The waiting lists responded to a difference between the service rate and the arrival rate, where the second is higher.
Simulation models of discrete events are a great help to support the decision-making process, because they allow to have a representation of the real system, in which it is able to make changes in the most representative variables and elements to estimate the behavior that affect response variables of interest, in this particular case we want to analyze the behavior of the waiting list of an external consultation service in an external consultation hospital when performing different calculations.

Diseñar un modelo de decisión para la organización de los recursos según la disponibilidad de estos, mediante la simulación de eventos discretos. Aplicación en el servicio de consulta externa del Hospital San Carlos.
