Project Details
Description
The main objective of this project is to generate synergies to boost tourism development in the Bribri-Cabécar Indigenous Territories of Talamanca, Costa Rica, through a potential "indigenous cacao tourism route," a tourism product aimed at boosting the local economy and strengthening the cultural identity of the communities through participatory processes. To achieve this, the project proposes validating tourism inventories and promoting and registering the intangible cultural heritage associated with cultivation and biocultural practices. In addition, the design strategy for the "Cacao Tourism Route" will be developed in a participatory manner, along with the creation of design elements for the route and its experience.
This project will use a participatory action methodology, centered on community assessment techniques, to strengthen self-management and promote the appreciation of untapped local tourism resources. This initiative focuses on local empowerment to improve the quality of life of the Bribri-Cabécar communities.
This is an outreach project in the field of intangible cultural heritage and participatory processes focused on empowering the local population. Community-based tourism organizations are working as partners.
