Description

According to an electronic survey carried out by Master Magaly Padilla Abarca, Preschool Advisor for
the Schools in the province of Cartago and Master Johanny Vallecillo Alfaro, Professor at Tecnológico
de Costa Rica, in different preschool learning centers of the counties of Paraíso, El Guarco, La Unión,
Oreamuno/Alvarado, there are teachers who do not know their level of linguistic proficiency according
to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Since 2019, Tecnológico de Costa Rica is an Authorized Examination Center for the Oxford Test of
English (OTE). This English level certification is internationally recognized for being aligned to the
CEFR. It is administered by a team certified by Oxford, and it is administered in the English
laboratories of the School of Language Sciences at the Central Campus of Tecnológico de Costa
Rica in Cartago.
For this reason, the objective of this project is to provide the preschool teaching population with the
opportunity to determine their English linguistic level band as well as their capabilities and areas of
improvement in order to define and plan continuous education plans that will allow them to grow
professionally and eventually reach a C1 or B2 language certification according to the Common
European Framework (CEFR).
