Clustering system for sub-atomic particle detectors (Sistema de agrupamiento para detectores de partículas subatómicas)

Project: Research Projects With national external fundsBasic and applied research

Project Details

Description

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will undertake a series of improvements that will tenfold the number of collisions per second, resulting in a larger number of traces to detect per unit of time [1]. The Large Hadron Collider beauty (LHCb) is one of the detectors used to identify and rebuild the traces left by collisions. It will be needed to adjust the LHCb to the new specs for LHC. The Scintillator Fibre (SciFi) detector, a component from the LHCb, will become the Mighty-Tracker after being updated with new components and technologies [1]. The project proposed will develop part of the new electronic elements used to process the data in the Mighty-Tracker. This research relates to the quality-and-pertinence strategic axis from PLANES by creating opportunities to share experience and generate technological knowledge. Also, It relates to the internationalization PLANES priorities by strengthening the relations with CERN and other universities associated with them.
