Project Details

Description

Continuing with the so-called PROE1 projects and the Atta-Bot2 project, the main objective of this proposal is
to design and develop an affordable robotic platform. This platform consists of an educational robot
accompanied by an interactive and user-friendly computer application, instructional guides called didactic
units, and user manuals. The purpose of this initiative is to promote and strengthen the teaching of science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to students in Basic General Education (EGB). The
initiative will span a period of 36 months and will be based on a structured methodology and an iterative
approach to ensure innovation and process effectiveness.
The educational robot will be a versatile and programmable device that will allow students to explore and
experiment with key concepts in STEM areas in a playful and practical environment. Additionally, the aim is to
reduce production costs by using easily accessible and cost-effective components. It will be open-source with
both hardware and software, making the robot accessible to everyone, especially educational institutions with
limited resources.
The computer application will complement the robot, designed to facilitate its control and programming.
Teachers and students will be able to use it to develop STEM activities in a simple, interactive, and didactic
manner, promoting creativity, problem-solving, and collaborative work.
The creation of didactic units will be done in direct coordination with authorities from the Ministry of Public
Education (MEP). It will begin with defining the topics or content to be addressed, the grade level (I or II Cycle
of EGB), and the objectives of the activities. This will consider subjects, content, and levels that align with the
design and functionalities available in both the robot and the computer application.
The development process of the educational robot and the computer application will be characterized by an
iterative approach, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptability throughout the project. Pilot tests will
be conducted with teachers and students to gather feedback and data on usability and effectiveness. This will
enable adjustments and improvements in the design and functionality of the product. User manuals and
didactic units will facilitate the integration of the educational robot and the computer application in the
classroom.
Validation of the educational robot and the computer application will be carried out through focus groups in
public educational institutions from different geographical regions of the country. To assess the project's
impact, an analysis of the data collected during tests and activities will be performed, using statistical and
qualitative techniques.
In conclusion, the project aims to promote innovation in STEM education through the development of a lowcost computer platform that is accessible and adapted to the needs of Basic General Education. The structured
methodology will ensure continuous improvement of the product and its effectiveness in the educational
context. The goal is to enhance students' skills and competencies in key areas for their academic and
professional development.
