Research interests

My work specializes in design management and strategic design as foundational disciplines for resolving complex problems. My approach—spanning academia, research, and community engagement—does not focus on the production of objects or visual media (as industrial design is traditionally perceived), but rather on that invisible yet indispensable framework that precedes any solution: systems thinking, process governance, and the formulation of strategies prior to their tangible or digital execution.

The central purpose of my holistic mindset is to guide projects so that, when solutions are developed, they possess a genuine *raison d'être*, thereby preventing organizations from expending valuable resources on aesthetic or superficial solutions that lack structural purpose.

Through systemic design, I dedicate myself to diagnosing, modeling, and articulating the interrelationships among multiple stakeholders to ensure the viability of projects characterized by high uncertainty. This strategic and holistic capability is highly transversal; while I have focused my primary interest on areas such as service design, tourism, local development, entrepreneurship, and circular design, my approach possesses a flexible scope.

I apply this knowledge by facilitating participatory co-design processes that invigorate key sectors within rural communities, indigenous populations, and local enterprises, as well as by designing models to enable the transition toward circular design or devising strategic sustainability frameworks in critical sectors such as humanitarian logistics.

To me, any intervention constitutes a living system that must be managed strategically—one that thrives only through multidirectional exchange. I conceive of community engagement as a horizontal dialogue of knowledge, wherein communities, stakeholders, and the university learn and grow together.

Conscious that these approaches represent an emergent body of knowledge—one that is profoundly necessary for the development of both the Latin American region and the wider world—I undertake my role with a deep sense of responsibility and empathy.

My objective is to place the rigor of design management at the service of the broader environment, acting as an indispensable technical bridge that collaborates with local territories to collectively navigate the path toward sustainability, social innovation, and long-term resilience.
