Wayner Montero-Carmona, PhD, completed his studies in Biotechnology Engineering at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology, Cartago. He subsequently completed his Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources with an emphasis on Biotechnology at the University of Costa Rica. Finally, he completed his doctoral studies at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, where he earned a Postgraduate Research Program focused on Genetic Engineering, Field Detection, and Genomics of the Fusarium Fungus. He has been a Professor-Researcher at the Agronomy School in the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory for 23 years, a laboratory he currently coordinates. He has participated in at least five international projects with collaborations between Australian, Spanish, German, and Central and South American peers. He has written three chapters in international books and more than 15 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
