Extension and Community Development

Professional in Education and Environmental Management with a strong background in teaching, chemistry, and sustainable development. Holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management and Local Development from ICAP, a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Sciences with an emphasis on Teaching, and a professional foundation in Chemistry from the University of Costa Rica. With over 20 years of experience, she has taken on key roles as a professor at TEC, extensionist, researcher, and project manager at TEC’s Extension Directorate. Her expertise includes participation in initiatives related to water quality, solar technologies, and circular bioeconomy, as well as projects and activities focused on education, emphasizing STEM methodologies and gender perspective. This experience led her to join the Niñas Supercientíficas project as an extensionist, where her contributions have helped expand the project's impact to the Huetar Norte Region, fostering collaboration with key stakeholders for successful implementation. Her leadership has enabled her to successfully coordinate inter-university extension projects funded by CONARE, fostering strong interinstitutional collaboration to support productive and tourism sectors in the northern border region of the country. Through these efforts, TEC has made a significant contribution to strengthening the connection between academia and society, providing innovative solutions for local development.
