Personal profile

Cynthia Lopez Valerio is a doctoral candidate in Business Administration at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (TEC). A computer engineer since 2000, she has specialized in Technology Management and Project Management. She has worked in public administration managing and overseeing contracts. For the past five years, she has worked on research and outreach projects at TEC, where she is currently a professor and research-extension specialist. She has also completed over 200 hours of training through the STEM Costa Rica Program offered by LASPAU and SINAES in 2018 and 2023. She holds a Big Data Analytics Certification. She is part of the Standardization process of the Costa Rican Institute of Technical Standards in the committees of CTN-27 SC 03 Information Security and IT Governance Management since 2020. She represents TEC in the Cybersecurity chapter of the Chamber of Technologies (CAMTIC) and is part of the board of directors of women in Engineering SWE.

 

Research interests

His research focuses on digital transformation, innovation, and knowledge management, specifically for SMEs. He aims to equip organizations with models, capabilities, and tools in artificial intelligence applied to various disciplines. He has published over 20 scientific articles indexed in Scopus and other databases.

Teaching

Master of Science in Computer Science with an emphasis in Telecommunications and Networks from ITCR, 2007.

Master of Science in Technology Management with an emphasis in Project Management from the National University, 2010.

Currently a doctoral candidate in Business Administration at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (ITCR), 2026.
